The product picture shows the winch with a fairlead in front of it. The fairlead is just sitting there. Now I know why! The winch has no attachment points or holes for the fairlead. A bracket is needed that you have to purchase separately. I had already purchased a mounting bracket and now I had to shell out another $16 for a bracket to hold the fairlead. Other winches show the fairlead bolted to the winch or the bracket SUPPLIED IN THE WINCH KIT. On the receiver mounting bracket I purchased elsewhere the instructions say to install the fairlead bracket SUPPLIED WITH THE WINCH! Badlands goes cheap and does NOT include the bracket. The tech support number sends you to Harbor Freight, tells you phone support is essentially not available ("use email" it said), and promptly hangs up on you. Also, the hook on the cable would not fit through the fairlead. The hook was held on with a cable loop that had a curved metal inner loop cover. That piece of metal was too wide. The combination of the eye of the hook and the loop in the cable made the connection too wide. I pounded the metal on the loop down a bit with a hammer to make it narrow enough to get through the fairlead. The user shouldn't have to modify the gear to make it work as advertised. At first, I kind of had my doubts about this winch, but it works pretty well. I bought it quite a while ago and mounted it onto my atv, but I didn't want to write a review till I actually used it. So I've been riding on my days off from work and yesterday was the first time I got stuck. So with the use of this winch and a tow strap, it easily got me out of the hole in was in.The only thing I don't like about the winch is the hook. It's kind of small for my tow strap. Although it still works, I think the hook could be a little bit bigger. I love the product though. So far, so good. I am using it to clear a sluice and it is bringing cement slabs to top for disposal.Mounted to my 2004 Suzuki LTZ 400 using 2 pieces of angle iron. Mounted nicely to quad frame and tucked up under nose. Wires fit perfectly back to battery compartment. Very pleased with power and mounting. It all worked perfectly. Mounted on my zero turn mower that likes to get stuck a lot in my acre I get to mow. I even ordered a 2nd just to steal the remote assembly for my out dated electrical on my old school boat loader rack I recently acquired.Seems decent quality. Doesn't come with mounting plate for fair lead. Has only the wireless remote. The strap is not as pictured. And the wires are too short. Seems extremely loud. But we will she how it holds upNiceEasy install.. love the wireless control.
